Tashkent Medical Academy has a storied past that dates back to the early 20th century. Initially part of the Turkestan State University, the medical faculty grew rapidly in stature, eventually becoming the Tashkent State Medical Institute. In 2005, to better serve the growing demands of modern medical education, the government of Uzbekistan reorganized it into what is now known as Tashkent Medical Academy.
