Malaquite Beach, located on North Padre Island inside the Padre Island National Seashore, is an excellent retreat for those seeking solitude. Shielded by sand dunes and situated in an unspoiled region devoid of vehicular access, this immaculate locale imparts a sense of uniqueness. From mid-June to August, Malaquite Beach offers the drift hunters unique opportunity to release Kemp’s ridley sea turtle hatchlings. These typically start at the Visitor Center at 6:45 a.m., but monitor the schedule for the most current information and changes.

South Padre Island, cherished by several generations of spring breakers, is situated at the southernmost extremity of the world's longest barrier island.
